Great Places To Find Low Cost Childrens Books

Children’s books are a big business – and thank goodness for it! Any parent who has “had” to read the same book over and over again will thank the heavens that there are an abundance of children’s books from which to choose. Even the best and most treasured books can become tedious after the 100th reading. Actually, after the 100th reading, it becomes more like a recital rather than a reading. I can’t tell you how many children’s books have become seared onto my memory! Pretty much all of Dr. Seuss and Mother Goose and about a dozen or so other titles.

Because of this reason alone – saving the parents’ sanity – any family with small children will want a large library of children’s books right away. At first, the books should be, what are called, board books. These books are sturdier and can stand up rather well to the tortures that a toddler will inflict on them such as drool, teeth marks and plain old brute strength. I usually give a collection of board books to the expectant mother at every baby shower I attend. From personal experience, I always accompany the books with a dispenser of clear packing tape. I learned to reinforce all of the books that I got for my children first before I let them get their little paws on them. They lasted much longer that way. Some babies are just more destructive than others are and it pays to be prepared.

As a toddler begins to learn to treat books with a bit more respect and not use them as a source of confetti or as a teething device, that is the time to graduate to storybooks (Click here for high quality personalized children's books ) with actual paper pages. Again, a family is going to want a large and varied collection in order to avoid the, “I’m tired of that story” blues. But how, when a typical child’s book can cost anywhere from $5 to $30, can a family afford to have a large and varied library? That is what we are here to discuss. Just where are the best places to find low cost children’s books?

I’ve lived in a few places around the country and every town I lived in has had many places where I could go to purchase inexpensive books both new and used. Every large bookstore chain deals with so many shipments of books on a daily basis that there is only so much shelf space to accommodate all of them. You can find many new books at extremely discounted clearance prices if you know what section to look in. Sometimes, the clearance books are kept on rolling racks that may be found in different places in the store. Always ask someone.

Used children’s books are even easier to find. I can find many at the local thrift and consignment stores around town and even yard sales. You may not want to go this route if you are giving these books as a gift unless you know the person really well. Even so, always wipe all surfaces on baby board books and the covers of other books with a disinfectant cloth to not only kill any germs and bacteria that may be lurking, but also to clean the book as well.

Many online sites I See Me! Personalized Children's Books specialize in selling new and used children’s books at extremely discounted prices, as well. Many will give bulk discounts in shipping and if the company is out-of-state, you can usually avoid paying sales taxes on the purchase.

As you can see, there are many places to find low cost children’s books. While quality books in a child’s library are great, it is quantity and having a wide variety of books to choose from that will
