H. Bosch Drawing

Product #:  8052
Brand:  Ray Caruso
Description:  Hieronymus Bosch was an Early Netherlandish painter of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.  Many of his works depict sin and human moral failings.  Bosch used images of demons, half-human animals and machines to evoke fear and confusion to portray the evil of man. His works contain complex, highly original, imaginative, and dense use of symbolic figures and iconography, some of which was obscure, even in his own time.

This phenomenal piece of scrimshaw is a copy of an engraving, done by Bosch in 1557,  of a stranded whale.  The detail on the exquisite scrimshaw copy is beyond expectations, and it must be seen to be appreciated.  There is a macro shot, clearly identified on the enlarged photograph, for you to zoom in so that you can appreciate the splendor and precision of this work of art.

Created on a large (4 1/2" X 4 1/2") piece of fossilized Woolly Mammoth tusk sitting atop its custom base of Black Walnut by scrimshander, Ray Caruso, this is an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind art piece that you will cherish forever.
