Dorado Mamerikos, also known as common dolphin fish, lampuki or
mahi-mahi
, are surface-dwelling ray-finned fish found in off-shore tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. The name, "mahi-mahi" ("strong-strong" in Hawaiian), particularly used on restaurant menus, has been adopted in recent years to avoid confusing these fish with dolphins, which are mammals. The are strong competitors and extremely colorful.
This sterling sliver dorado, leaping from a piece of fossilized Woolly Mammoth tusk atop a custom base of Black Walnut, is 4" high. It was created by the artist, Ray Caruso, and it is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
It is exquisite yet simple. Whether you love to fish or simply enjoy watching the ocean creatures, you will be able to display your dorado proudly throughout your home or office.
